110 Zone Point, St Mawes, Falmouth, Mawnan
On land again, I struggle through the busy streets of Falmouth. The pedestrian area near the ferry quay is crowded with meandering people and I get impatient with the loitering crowds. Don’t they know I have serious walking to do? Continue reading
109 Nare Head to Zone Point
This section of the walk is truly beautiful- Treluggan Cliff. On my left are rocks beneath and clear sea. On my right are wild flower meadows – covered in a mad profusion of blue, pink, red and yellow. Daisies line the path. What a treat.
108 Caerhays Castle to Nare Head
Among the flattened and deadened vegetation, one plant is putting out vigorous new shoots – red leaves, large and strong and healthy. Like an awful triffid, the Japanese Knotweed refuses to die.
107 Mevagissey to Caerhays Castle
I walk a beautiful stretch of Cornish coast, discovering hidden beaches and ending up at a fairy-tale castle. This is what coast walking should be like. Beautiful, peaceful, wild, great views. Continue reading
106 Charlestown, Pentewan to Mevagissey
It is drizzling. I have a rant about a private beach and am amused by a profusion of signs along the path. I thought I was making great progress, but it turns out I’m not where I thought I was. Continue reading
105 Polkerris to Par Sands to Charlestown
I encounter rock falls, a deviated path, feral sheep, a china clay mill, a derelict beach and a beautiful port. All along a 6 mile walk. That’s Cornwall for you. Continue reading
104 (b) Fowey to Polkerris
I am growing very tired. In retrospect, I should have ended my walk at either Polruan or Fowey. But this is a rare, sunny day and after a large glass of Cornish cyder you feel you can do anything!

104 (a) Polperro to Fowey
A windy cliff top walk in Cornwall, along the South West Coast Path. With my eyes on the view I’m not watching my feet. Something slithers across the path ahead. An adder!

103 Looe to Polperro
Conditions aren’t good. The wind is fierce and both the sea and landscape are cloaked in grey. Waves roll in, crashing past grey rocks and lashing at the harbour wall. Continue reading
101 (part 2) Plymouth, Rame Head, Freathy
I am in Cornwall. Don’t think I’ve ever been here before and feel like an explorer standing on the edge of an unknown world. I wonder how difficult the walking will be. Continue reading
